Help: Technical Support

I cannot see the top menu, masthead graphics and login bar of the DRF Web site when using certain computers, what is the problem?

There are a couple of possible reasons why you can't see the top menu, masthead graphics and login bar on our site.

1.) You are running Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.

After researching feedback from users experiencing this problem we've determined that the Ad Blocking feature in Norton Personal Firewall and Norton Internet Security (which included the firewall program along with other Symantec products) is supressing the JavaScript files that are used to build and display our top menu, masthead graphics, login bar and footer file.
These features rely on these JavaScript files and that is what the Ad Blocking feature is stopping from loading.

Symantec's Web site offers the following suggestions:

  • Add rules for Ad Blocking for: www1.drf.com, ads.drf.com, analytics.drf.com, newdata.drf.com and sports.drf.com.

  • Turn off Ad Blocking completely.

2.) JavaScript is turned off in your browser.

Our top menu, masthead graphics, login bar and footer file are built using two JavaScript files. Obviously, if JavaScript is not running, then you won't see any of these features. To check to see if JavaScript is running:

  • Internet Explorer

    • Go to the Tools menu and choose Internet Options.

    • Click on the Security tab and highlight Internet.

    • Click on the Custom Level button.

    • Scroll down about 80% of the way until you find Scripting.

    • If the Active Scripting setting is set to Enable, then JavaScript is running. If it is set to Disable, then JavaScript is not active. Set this to Enable.

  • Netscape

    • Go to the Edit menu and choose Preferences.

    • Expand the Advanced section.

    • Click on Scripts & Plugins.

    • See if Navigator is checked under the Enable JavaScript for section.
